zoom zoom: bananas + yoghurt + honey

Jamie Oliver demonstrated this on his 15 Minute Meals which is currently on DSTV and it really really works. Sometimes when I watch TV shows (drooling, usually - it's not an attractive sight), I wonder whether I'll ever be able to remember the recipe, but this particular one was super super simple and easy on the taste buds too. The only catch is that you do really need machinery to break down the bananas - so either a Magimix or a blender of sorts.

As your bananas are starting to get a little soft for consumption, resist the urge to make banana bread (I know you want to...) and instead follow these simple steps to make nyummy, low fat ice-cream.

Peel the bananas, put in a plastic container or bag, and freeze for a minimum of 8 hours.

  • Get the bananas out of the freezer, chuck them in your magimix, and pulse. Be prepared for quite a noisy reception - the bananas are very hard!
  • Eventually they will break down and at that point you can add a few large spoonfuls of natural yoghurt and a spoonful of runny honey.
  • Blitz again
  • Put into the containers you'll serve it in, and back into the freezer until you're ready to serve.

If you're counting the calories, make sure your yoghurt is low fat.
